Now that Halloween has past and the snow is here to say, thoughts turn to my favorite time of year.

I love winter. Winter is the season of gift giving. It’s like when the sun is barely present and certainly not warm we create our own warmth by being kind an generous.

I don’t buy into the whole idea that we’re only good to each other because we’re expected to be because it’s the “Holiday Season” because there are holidays every month of the year

Not only that, but I have seen some of the most generous acts of kindness happen in late January/ early February , which is statistically one of the most depressed time of year (and often the coldest, weather wise!)

I have to admit though, I like the excuse of Thanksgiving and Christmas to bake lots of delicious things and give them away, because I enjoy taking care of people but it’s seen as a bit more odd the rest of the year.

But, even in the absence of grand plans and money to spend, this is also the best time of year to just tell people how much we love them, and have them receive it in the right way: openly and with gratitude, rather than with suspicion.

Merry winter to you all!
